Ozark Winter is a painting of a classic Ozark glade a few days after an early snow. Despite the dreary light the snow made the tall weeds and grasses appear more vivid than normal. The colors stopped me in my tracks, and I spent an afternoon within a few hundred feet both sketching and photographing the glade and the cedars. The painting is of Saint Francois State Park (north of Bonne Terre, MO), known more for the Big River that runs through it. But this painting is dedicated to the glade, the grasses and cedars.
