Crossing Kansas, is a studio painting inspired by a thunderstorm I witnessed in western Kansas. All day I had been driving across Kansas heading for the cool Colorado mountains. It was one of those trips that never seem to have an end, passing through hot, flat and desolate country all day that looks the same mile after mile. As I approached the Kansas/Colorado state line this fantastic line of thunderstorms raced out of the southwest and filled the sky blocking out the setting sun.
