"Building Trust”, An arch built of rocks is like a family. Everyone supports each other and everyone works to make the family whole.
The inspiration to paint still-lifes of rocks, stacked rocks called Cairns, comes from several visits to the Lake Superior Northshore in Minnesota where I would come across these beautiful “cairns”, rocks stacked on each other, created and left behind by other creative rock lovers. I consider many of my new paintings as collaborations with strangers I’ve never met. To see more go to my website http://www.garrymcmichael.com/SticksandStones.htm
Building Trust, 18X36 acrylic on canvas.
For three decades Garry McMichael has been traveling the back roads of Middle America, especially the Ozarks and the Mississippi River basin, capturing its beauty with the camera, charcoals, pastels and paint. Garry is constantly searching for those fleeting moments when the landscape, the atmospheric conditions and the ever-changing light come together in a flash of visual inspiration. Whether you are inspired by the ebb and flow of the Mississippi River, a quiet walk through the rugged Ozark mountains, or watching a summer thunderstorm roll across the prairie you will appreciate the art of Garry McMichael. Garry, beautiful piece! The rocks are so realistic and the composition so well laid out!
